History of Turkey Noodle

Turkey noodle is a variation of noodle, a type of food made from unleavened dough that is cooked in boiling water or broth, sometimes with other ingredients added. Noodle originated in Central Asia, especially among the Turkic peoples, and spread to the Middle East, Balkans, South Asia, and other regions through trade and migration. There are many national and regional variations of noodle, with different ingredients, shapes, sizes, and cooking methods.

Turkey noodle is a Turkish version of noodle that uses turkey breast instead of meat. It is also known as hindili noodle tarifi in Turkish. Turkey noodle is a popular dish among health-conscious people, as it provides a good source of lean protein and complex carbohydrates. Turkey noodle is also a budget-friendly dish, as turkey breast is cheaper and more widely available than other types of meat. Turkey noodle can be served as a main course or a side dish, with various sauces or salads on the side.

Ingredients

  • For the noodle:
    • 1 packet of instant noodles
    • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon of kofta spice mix (or use a combination of salt, black pepper, cumin, paprika, and red pepper flakes)
  • For the turkey:
    • 100 grams of turkey breast, cut into small cubes
    • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
    • 1 teaspoon of kofta spice mix (or use a combination of salt, black pepper, cumin, paprika, and red pepper flakes)
  • For the garnish (optional):
    • 1 small carrot, peeled and grated
    • 1 green pepper, chopped
    • 1 spring onion, chopped

Instructions

  • To make the noodle, cook the instant noodles in a pot with water according to the package directions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and the kofta spice mix. Add the noodles and toss well to coat.
  • To make the turkey, heat some oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the turkey cubes and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through, for about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • In another small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and the kofta spice mix. Add the turkey and toss well to coat.
  • To serve, divide the noodles among four plates or bowls. Top with the turkey and sprinkle with carrot, green pepper, and spring onion if desired.
